If your
cartridge seems
to be running
out, try shaking
it. You might be
able to extend
the life of the
cartridge for a
good while. If
it runs out
again, try a
second or third
shake. Be sure
to shake the
cartridge
gently. At the
same time, it's
a good idea to
have the next
cartridge ready
to go. |
Buying a Printer, What
Is the Print/Page Cost?
We are often asked to
recommend new printers
to our customers, and we
almost always look to
the cost per page. This
is the yield of the
cartridge divided by its
cost. Also ask if the
printer has drums or
fusers that need
frequent changing; they
can add up, too. They
all figure into your
costs per page. If you
are getting an inkjet
printer, try to get one
that uses separate ink
for the colors, not a
tri-color. This way if
one color runs out, you
don’t have to throw out
what’s left of the other
two colors.
